The Harlem renaissance still has a big impact today in American society even though it occurred in the 1920's. Take our current music at the top of the charts today and the massive amount of genres of music available today most thanks to the Harlem renaissance. For instance in the 1920's genres such as, Ragtime, jazz, and the blues were very popular. In fact (1) “In the late 1920’s, Jazz was so popular that club owners could afford to hire bigger and bigger bands”. And now because of these genres we have many more based off of these such as, Rap, Jazz, Soul, Reggae, and Blues that impact our every day life today.
However the Harlem renaissance was more than just African American music it was much more such as literature. The literature created then still has meaning and is important today about 90 years later. This time was a (2)"defining moment in African American literature because of an unprecedented outburst of creative activity among black writers." Because of the Harlem renaissance many great works were created which led to many more created today. Therefore the creativity and works of the 1920's have led to the inspiration of music, literature, art,and movies of today which immensely impact our everyday life
